I am a big fan of Lin's books. Can
I have a suggestion for him/her?
The us president selection had
finished recently. Lots of
fantastic story happened during
that time. Maybe It's not a bad
idea to choose that as content for
your next book. I am looking foward
to read. |

I have a dream too.
After a long reading experience
with disappointment on introductory
books about the America, my
efforts for the better get
rewarded, Linda states the American
history and culture from an
interesting but absolutely correct
standpoint: the self evoiution of
the instituion and the intrasystem
advancement and development. The
greatest idea, i would like to say,
revealed by this book is the the
advantage of American institution
and culture is its stability and
the innate buffer mechanism toward
any change primised on a
destructive evolution. It is
impossible for anyone to imagin a
country like America is able to
achieve the same economical growth
rate as china in 50s'-60s' and the
former Soviet union in 40s', it is
also ridiculous to suppose what if
the cultural revolution or the
Soviet union purge happen in USA.
I bet you can understand this idea
better if you have a stock related
experience, The plain and even a
little stupid uncle Sam hold tight
its stock "counterchecking" and
assume sort of blind optimism
toward its future. Finally, time
prove what he held is a "blue-chip"
with stable and sustainable
return. |

This article is one of the most thoughtful, insightful and
stimulating work on the racial issue in US. It is a must-read for
those who care about the historical, social and legal issues in US. |

I am a reader in Canada. Although I
haven't been here for a long time,
I still have some personal feeling
on some problem the author said.
Generally, I think this book is
pretty good. Many ideas and facts,
I get educated and more
knowledgable about one face of
american culture. At the same time,
I also see the problem our chinese
people have. We should have the
courage of self-critisizing and
self-improvement, so that we can
make our chinese people a real
excellent part of the whole world.
Thanks for Yifan ShuKu, I read a
lot from this site |
