不要误导在国内的读者. 纽约是国际第一城
市, 但如果你不是年收入至少十万以上, 她
是不属于你的. 除了老纽约客, 可以住在房
租控制的公寓里, 每月房租大约千把块, 新
移民甭想住在曼哈顿, 除非你和其他人挤在
一起,只能有放张床的地盘, 房租还得5-600
元. 我访问过在纽约大学读书的一个学生,
还是从台湾来的, 6个人分租一个4卧1厅的
公寓, 每人还要付800元月阻, 没有厨房,
只有冰箱和微波炉放在过道上, 因为厅里还
住了2个大陆来的学生. 如果你是学生, 而
且是认真学习, 在这里基本上没时间,也没
心情去谈恋爱. 纽约人生活频率世界第一,
街上的人都是步履匆匆, 并且纽约的单身比
率最高. 当然, 你可以住在昆士, 但就不是
地地道道的纽约客了.

拜托，“情为何物，直教人生死相许”不是
琼瑶写得出的。
余现为在读这本书的访问学者，觉得该书
情感正挚，体现出该女作家对留美人生独
到的感悟， 实为同类之中佳作也。
但个别章节，如金雀夫人，的描写有些过
于离奇，确给人以不真实之感。
BTW，在下来自PKU,对书中讽北大教授于
机场一景喷饭:) 真有这样的？可能。反
正我不会。
别教唆并不知道什么是留学生活的小孩子
做这种美梦了！

作者文字運用尚數老練﹐可惜政治性太強﹐
有點“八股”(見后記)。人物對白太過書
面話﹐有時確實酸倒牙齒﹐也削弱了故事的
真實度。我來美數年﹐一直生活在留學
生的圈子里﹐也見到不少奇人異事﹐但象書
中人物這樣的﹐卻是連影儿都沒有。當
然這並不是說作者杜撰。細想一下﹐可能因
為主人公是訪問學者﹐並已“人到中年”﹐
她的生活圈子和我的迥異。加之紐約地面儿
複雜﹐即使真有“金雀夫人”之流﹐也
不為怪。可惜的是作者說希望這是一本“留
美學子們的 “生活寫真””﹐卻花費太
多筆墨描寫過于戲劇性的感情糾紛----我所
認識的留學生們可絕不是這樣生活的。
