第58节:SUMMER夏(27) The last thing I want to share with you tonight is in regards to Gogo’ s life in China. I have learned a lot about her culture this term. Gogo explained how competitive school was in China. She told us about the typical long school day-getting up and going to school and then returning late in the evening only to have dinner and study more. One day at ICA while reading A Separate Peace, we were discussing competition. Gogo explained that in China students were ranked by their academic performances. This would be similar to a class ranking at ICA. However, there were many differences with this ranking system. First, it was a visible list well-known by the parents, teachers and students. Second, students were often asked who they wanted to pass on the list. Students would say a name and then thrive to beat the person they set out to pass. The pressure must have been intense. Gogo, as you know, things are different here, and on-behalf of ICA and all of the people who have been blessed to know your joyful and thoughtful soul, you are on the top rung here, #1 in this ranking- now and forever. God bless you and your journey.
